How to Motivate Your Employees in 5 Minutes Have you ever led a team or organization where some employees didn’t seem motivated? Maybe the company started experiencing a high turnover rate or production is declining. If so, this article is for you. Below are three (3) tips if executed properly, will instantly increase motivation throughout the workplace. Support New Ideas A great way to keep your employees motivated is to establish a culture where new ideas are supported. People like to feel their voice can be heard and they can affect change. As a leader, you should try to get staff members at all levels to actively participate in solving the company’s challenges. This will spark creativity and get your employees involve in the success of the company. Remember, Leaders must rely on others in the organizations to carry out tasks and help the organization reach its goals. So, become open to your employee’s ideas because they can bring fresh ideas or critical feedback that could ultimately set the organization from its competitors. Set the Example Leaders are leaders because of what they do, not because of the position they hold. If you are a person with high morals, standards and believe in performing your duties with excellence, you should want your employees to carry these same characteristics. The best way to influence your employees is to lead by example. So, if you are running an organization built off high morals and values, then be the leader that’s respectful, honest and compassionate to others. Keep them Engaged I have a friend whom left the military to pursue a job in the corporate world as a mid level manager. He had high hopes of making his new job a long term career and work his way up the corporate ladder. However, after a few months in the company, he is already looking for a new company. The reason why he’s looking for a new company is because his motivation is down because he thinks his work meaningless and not engaged with the company. As a leader, it is important to keep your employees focused and engaged. In my experience, I have noticed employees who are engaged are more dedicated and committed to their work and their company. And this level of commitment can lead to a high productivity level from the individual. A great way a leader can get his/her employee engaged is by making them feel valued, trusted and giving them meaningful work. Have you ever been giving tasks you found meaningless or maybe had a boss that made you feel undervalue? Now, think about you felt. Did you give a 100% effort all the time with your work? Did you think about quitting because you felt undervalued? As a leader, you can change the work culture of your company by understanding your employees, recognizing their importance and rewarding for high performance. Motivating others can be a challenge. The key to motivating people is to find out their interests and the things your employees value. So, what are some ways you motivate your employees, teammates or friends?
