Why are people fearful of success
It is known the fear of success has held people back from reaching their goals since the beginning of time. Success has destroyed the character of people, left them financially broken and/or wreaked havoc in their lives. Many people have seen a relative or friend go through this type of hardship, which may have impacted their desire to leave their comfort zone and take chances in life.
Why is it that people would rather live a calm and secure life than to chase a dream and fall into their purpose? Does this sound strange? One of the main reasons is because fear is holding them back from taking the leap.
Let me ask you a couple of questions.
Have you ever had a wonderful idea but were too afraid to put it into action? Did the fear of failure keep you from putting your idea into action? I'm here to tell you this is the wrong way to live. You should never put your dreams on hold or be afraid to follow your purpose. And You should never limit God’s ability to work through you to reach success.
Is success bad? Absolutely not!
God wants you to be successful in everything you do. You are destined to prosper and be successful in life. You should never let fear keep you from capturing your goals and making your dreams a reality. Never limit God! You have to be a believer in your ability, trust in Him and step up to the challenge. I’m a firm believer of the phrase, “If you see it, you can achieve it.”
Below are the ways on how to take the limits off God and reach success.
Become Dependent vs Independent.
Being dependent simply means trusting in His power…trusting He has the power to help you and will help. Most of us trust our “employer, friends, and relatives before we put all our trust into Him.” We attend church, take in the word and call ourselves believers even though we don't fully trust Him.
To reach success, you need to trust He will provide you with all the answers you seek. You have to believe you’re following His purpose and that He will never give you more than you can handle. Believe! Take your hands off the wheel, let go and have faith in Him. Proverbs 3:5,6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
Put God First. Get Rid of Distractions.
Facebook used to be a big distraction for me. I used to spend countless hours updating my status and monitoring new comments popping up on my newsfeed. When I realized I was spending less time on the important things in my life such as family, business and goals, I vowed to make a change. I deleted the app off my phone and limited my usage to a few hours a week. I let social media distract me on my goals and it took me further away from Him.
John 2:15 says, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” If you have distractions in your life, please get rid of them now. Your distraction is the barrier between failure and success. To overcome this obstacle, you need to place more time and focus on the activities that will bring you closer to your goal. Keep your eyes on the prize. Part time work will give you part time results. And the goal is never part time success.
Listen to Him.
There have been times when I made business decisions without consulting God first and the results didn’t go as planned. I’ve learned from experiences to consult God first, be patient and listen.
As you go through the day, let the Holy Spirit guide you. “That means you don’t have to go it alone or hope you’re getting it right.” Let the Holy Spirit lead you into the truth and protect you. 2 Timothy 1:14 says, “Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.” Don’t limit God by running on autopilot. Live, listen, learn and let Him lead you to success.
Here’s the Take Away
Are you limiting God from working through you? What are some areas in your life you want God to fix? Philippians 4:13 states, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” As a believer, you have to put all your faith in Him. Don’t limit God; instead rely on Him to help see dreams come true.
