A goal is an individual’s desired result. It could be wanting to open a business, get an “A” in a class, or complete a Half Marathon in a specific time. We all go through life with establishing goals and writing down a path to get there. But, after this plan, you need people who can continue supporting and encouraging you to meet your goals. Therefore, below are five different ways people can be there to motivate you and help you to never stop running toward the finish line.
1. Check in on you. It’s good to have someone in your life who checks on your status and goals. This person can give you calls or stop by your house to see how’s everything going for you. I love it when my best friend asks me about my goals and if I need any help. It brightens my day to know I have a partner who has my back.
2. Help you remember your reasons why. If you ever feel down and want to quit because it’s getting tough, having a friend or mentor will keep you moving. I noticed it’s important to know why I’m moving towards accomplishing this goal. If you have a lot of meaning for your actions, it can drive you faster towards getting it.
3. Teach you how to reach your goal. When I am trying to open a new business, buy more real estate, or become stronger in the weight room, I talk to friends or mentors about how to reach this goal. I like to sign up to meet a dream I’ve never attempted before and start talking to people who are already there and successful. So, if you want to open a new restaurant business and have never worked in one, you should take the time to learn more about it. So, go to a local restaurant, set up a meeting with the owner, and ask them how they made it happen.
4. Be a listening ear. Releasing your frustration to a reliable person can calm you down. It’s good to have someone in your life so that you can talk about all good, bad, and frustrating things, and they will only listen. A lot of times, people do not want advice back. They want someone to hear about their problems and say it will be okay. If you’re this person, it’s good to keep this person to your side, and they will be there to hear your words.
5. Cheer for you during the process. If you have never been on a football or Basketball team in High School, that’s okay. You can still have cheerleaders on your team. I’m being funny right now, but I can honestly say I get so much motivation with people cheering me on. Keeping these people to your side is good because they can encourage you to go your hardest and never give up. Trust me, they will bring back faith to your heart and the rage to succeed.
Overall, these are wonderful traits; we need people in our lives to keep going. By having these traits, they can continue to help us stay on the path.
